Meet Our Esteemed Presenters

Alan Chandler
Senior Pracacademic
Alan Chandler is a senior pracademic at the University of East London and the Director of the conservation-focused architecture firm Arts Lettres Techniques. His expertise combines heritage and traditional construction with biomaterial design, emphasizing the social and economic aspects of sustainability. He critiques and reinterprets the way environments are produced for community and environmental benefits, linking carbon and culture through a colonial history and addressing the climate emergency. Chandler co-developed Sugarcrete®, a sustainable construction material nominated for the 2024 Earthshot Prize, and a winner of the Built by Nature Prize 2024, Dezeen Sustainability Award, and a Climate Positive award. Sugarcrete® is an open-source material with partnerships in 15 countries in the Global South, promoting ethical and democratic decarbonization of construction materials. Previously, Chandler has taught at the Architectural Association, Goldsmith’s College of Art, Cambridge University, and Edinburgh University.
Alyssa Inniss-Gittens
Interior Designer
Alyssa Inniss-Gittens is a creative, tenacious and dedicated Interior Designer who excels in problem-solving through her multifaceted expertise in art and design. Alyssa graduated with a BFA in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, USA, and an MSc in Agile Methodologies and Digital Transformation from Structuralia, Spain. She also holds a certificate in Sustainable Construction Management from the University System of Maryland. After graduating, Alyssa immediately joined the workforce, where she excels in space planning, concept design and 3D visualizations. With her unique blend of creativity, dedication, and foundation in sustainable practices, she’s dedicated to creating sustainable and innovative interior solutions and hopes to further her knowledge by pursuing a master's in sustainable architecture. Alyssa is currently pursuing her WELL Accredited Professional (AP) and LEED Green Associate (GA) Credentials, emphasizing her commitment to health and sustainability in the built environment. Her vision is to enhance the quality of life for communities through thoughtful design solutions.
Antonio R. T.Joyette
Career Climate Scientist
Antonio Joyette is a career climate scientist. He headed the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Service for over 20 years. Over the years, his research has focused on societal impacts, as well as local, national and regional vulnerabilities to weather- and climate-related hazards. He has presented his research in national, regional and international and has authored and contributed to several articles on related subjects, some of which have been widely published. Antonio has collaborated on several environmental, disaster -, climate- and weather risk-related projects, with his most contribution and publications adresssing environmental impacts in the Caribbean. He has also work for multiple national, regional and international agencies, including CPDC, CARICOM CDEMA, WMO and the World Bank. Antonio currently serves as an Associate Lecturer in the MSc. Programme at CERMES-UWI Cave Hill. Antonio holds a PHD. in Environmental Studies and a MSc. in Natural Resources Management from the UWI Cave Hill.
Armor Gutierrez Rivas
Senior Lecturer
Armor is an architect, researcher, and maker focused on sustainable innovation in the built environment. Before joining the University of East London (UEL) as a Senior Lecturer, he worked with prestigious architecture firms including Bjarke Ingels Group, MVRDV, and KPF, where he became an Associate Principal. Since 2017, he has led the design studio Unit 8 MArch at UEL and delivered Technical and Environmental Studies as a Module Leader. His teaching has garnered several RIBA awards and nominations. In 2020, Armor became an Associate of the Sustainability Research Institute at UEL, co-developing Sugarcrete®, a low-carbon bio-material, earning international recognition. He is also a visiting professor at numerous universities worldwide and co-founded Atelier La Juntana, promoting sustainable architecture and design through workshops and summer schools. His work has been featured in many prestigious exhibitions and collections globally.
Giovanny Pazmino
Regional Sales Manager
Giovanny Pazmino manages the International Region of The Roof Coatings Group of the Sherwin Williams Company. Responsibilities include: Sales Performance, Market and Brand Development, Channel Distribution, Product Training, Event Coordination. Giovanny earned an MBA degree at NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY in Davie, Florida. He has 20 years of experience in the Paint and Coatings Industry,, his proficiency is in International Markets and Roof Coatings. He is a CEU Speaker throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Guam and Saipan. Apart from managing the Sales for Sherwin Williams in the international Region, Gio is active in Sports such as Martial Arts and Long Distance Triathlons, (Finisher of 2 Full Ironmans.
Natalee Harrigan
Safety and Health Professional
Mrs. Natalee Harrigan is a certified Occupational Safety and Health Professional with the UK Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH). She holds a BSc in Environmental Management from the University of the West Indies and professional qualifications from the UK National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH). Her career spans 15 years including both public sector work and private sector work in various industries. She has been responsible for the implementation of safety and environment management systems, the development of training programmes, auditing and more. She is a lecturer, trainer, consultant, speaker and advocate using her @safetyfirstlady Instagram platform. Mrs. Harrigan is a fun and dynamic individual who loves to connect with people in a down-to-earth way.

Vincent Fede
Chairman of the school board
Vincent Fede was born on February 14, 1967, in Paterson, New Jersey, and grew up in Elmwood Park, NJ. After graduating from Paramus Catholic High School in 1985, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University before starting an apprenticeship in stucco and plastering. He worked on high-profile projects and later joined Great American Wall Systems, where he learned about product distribution. In 2004, Vincent co-founded Signature Building Supply, which was sold in 2008, leading him to join Total Wall Systems. He became National Sales Manager in 2010 and Vice President of Sales in 2012, expanding the company's global presence. Vincent was a founding member of the Scoglitti Society of Elmwood Park, serving as President in 2016 and 2022. He joined the Finance Committee at Paramus Catholic High School in 2018, became Vice Chairman of the school board in 2019, and was elected Chairman in 2024. Vincent has one son, Matthew, who is a student at Morris County Community College.
GORDON ASHBY
Architect
Gordon Ashby is an architect, director of Gordon Ashby Architect Ltd and practices in Barbados. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1985 and has 39 years experience as an architect. His main focus has been designing contemporary residences for a tropical lifestyle. He has also designed several schools and worked on numerous hotels, offices and warehouses. A former President of the Barbados Institute of Architects, he was instrumental in facilitating the passage of the Architects Registration Act in 2004. He is Honorary Secretary of the Barbados National Trust. In his spare moments he paints, cycles and walks on stilts.
Chelle Van Otten
Director:Textur Architectural Finishes
Chelle is the Managing Director of Textur Architectural Finishes, a 3rd generation designer, 5th generation entrepreneur, and artist. She studied fine art and interior design at the University of California, Berkeley. Her family has pioneered architecture and design since 1917. Textur Architectural provides eco-friendly luxury wall coatings imported from Europe, supporting the Caribbean design community with sustainable, elevated finishing options. Chelle's passion for modern contemporary design integrates art, nature, and well-being.
Luke Ticknor
Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing,
Harris Paints Group of Companies
Luke Ticknor has over 20 years of international experience in the coatings and construction industry, having worked in sales, marketing and product development for some of the worlds’ largest construction products companies including ICI (Dulux) Paints, DAP Sealants (RPM) and Masco. As the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Harris Paints, Luke leads the Product teams driving Harris’ commitment to continuous innovation and sustainability, and has been a technical consultant for some of the largest projects in the Region.
Akin Looby
Architect and Sustainability Consultant
Akin is an architect, project manager and sustainability consultant based in Trinidad & Tobago. He has led multidisciplinary teams in the design and construction of commercial, institutional, educational and residential projects. He holds degrees in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, as well as Economics with a focus on Sustainable Development. He is a former Vice President for the Americas of the Commonwealth Association of Architects and President of the Trinidad & Tobago Institute of Architects for the period 2022-2024.
Camille Douglas
Registered Architect in Jamaica
Arch. Douglas Stephenson is a Registered Architect in Jamaica employed to the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) since January 2021, currently serving as the Agency’s Architect Planner. Previously, she was employed as an Associate Architect with Martin Lyn and Associates, Jamaica. She holds a M.Arch. from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Technology Jamaica. She is the current President of the Jamaican Institute of Architects, a position she has held since May 2021, a LEED AP BD+C and a WELL AP.
Mr. Raymond Nurse
Architect
Mr. Raymond Nurse is a Barbadian by birth. He took his undergraduate degree in Architecture Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica. He attended Iowa State University , graduating with a double Masters in Architecture and Urban Design, NCARB accredited and STEM.
Mrs. Reene Cobham
Senior Brand & Trade Officer
Mrs. Renee Cobham holds an MSc. in International Management and a BSc. in Sociology, with ten years' experience in th Coatings Sector of the Construction Industry. At Berger Paints Barbados Limited, a member of the ANSA McAl Group of Companies, she plays a pivotal role in shaping strategies for Marketing, Customer Service and Sales; consistently delivering results that contribute to the company’s leadership in the field. Outside of the Coatings Industry, she is an appreciator of food, with a love for bajan fishcakes and a fitness enthusiast.
