The Barbados Institute of Architects (BIA)
The Barbados Institute of Architects (BIA) is the local body for architecture and the architectural profession. The institute was originally established on the 10th April 1968 as the “Barbados Society of Architects” and later altered to the current title on the 30th May 1979.
Barbados Town Planning Society (BTPS)
The Society is fully open to the public and currently consists of Town Planners and other development-related professionals with several membership categories available depending on training and experience. Membership has been growing, and we invite all local Town Planners and development-related professionals from both public and private sectors to join and be a part of the Society.

BAPE was conceived on 02 October 1964 at the Drill Hall. There was a Steering Committee which held 4 meetings and developed a constitution. The first general meeting was held at the Marine on 19 November 1964. Sir Frank Hutson was the first President
